Billy Bland time of 13.-53. still stands today. Mark Hartell had a go at the record on the 25th of July 1999. but he was unfortunately one hour behind and ended up with 14hrs. 54mins. still a great time.( you can see Marks split times on his club web-site .) Macclesfield Harriers

OLDEST PERSON TO COMPLETE THE B.G.R. Brian Leathley, Age 66, 1998. 23Hrs.39mins.

Brian started road-running at the age of 55 after playing rugby for 30 years, and moved onto the fells 5 years later at the tender age of 60. He completed the Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge at the age of 65, when someone said he should try a go at the B.G.R. At the age of 66 Brian managed to complete the round on his fourth attempt.
